Settling In

Hi Again,

I thought I would add some more photos to the blog.  I am posting it a day after I wrote it as I had difficulty with the photos again.  Anyways, last night went really well.  Ken gave Makenna a bottle at 1:15am and then brought her up to our room where we were able to sleep until 3:30.  I brought Makenna down for a feed then and she fell asleep after until 6:30 am!  How great is that?  We are hoping this is a trend.  We will see:)

Hi Everyone,

We are settling in now.  Makenna had a much better night last night.  She only ate every couple hours or so which is more the norm.  She has continued to sleep a lot during the day though.  

Anika is getting more involved.  She has asked a few times now to hold Makenna and she also has asked to feed her a couple of times.   I think Anika feels like a big girl when she helps out with 'her baby,' Makenna:)  But after about 15 seconds she says, "Too heavy" or "you hold the bottle now."  So the help is somewhat limited:)

The community nurse came by today to give me a refresher on all the info to do with babies, since it has been 2 and half years since I did all this with Anika.  She weighed Makenna and she is now 8lbs 6.4 oz.  So she is doing well in that department and the nurse also said that Makenna looks healthy and has great skin tone.   We gave Makenna a bath last night which is a bit daunting when you have a fragile wriggly baby in your hands.  Makenna was not so keen on the bath but I think her skin did look great today so it was well worth it.

Makenna likes to look around a lot when she is awake.  She seems to be thinking already.  We think she also has quite a strong neck as she can lift it and turn her head well when you have her on your chest or you are burbing her.  I am hoping to give her lots of practice with her neck muscles to that she is able to hold up her head well after she gains some weight.  We will see how that goes.

Anyways, I wanted to share some more photos as I didn't have much time yesterday to put very many in the blog.  Enjoy and thanks for all the emails.
