Hi Everyone,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
It was a busy lead up to Christmas. We were at Whistler for many of the weekends and during the weeks we were busy with our regular routines as well as adding: Christmas shopping, getting passports, stuff to get done as the enrollment person at our preschool and going to appointments for my knee (Specialist Appt, MRI appt, extra Xray appt, physio appt, etc.) I am now on the waitlist for surgery to trim some cartilage in my knee that is torn. It will probably happen in the summer as expected. So, I have been taking it easy with respect to physical activity.
Well, here are the photos from the past couple of months. Enjoy:)

Anika tried out someone's lipstick.
Makenna hanging out with Dave, her birth father who is visiting:)
I took Anika to Disney on Ice in late November. She loved it and it was fun to have big girls' night out.
In late November we also went to the new Olympic Richmond Oval for some ice skating.

Dave and Vicky enjoying the Oval with us:)
It is amazing how Anika and Makenna are so into the Olympic mascots! It is not like they have had a lot of exposure to them and they are so into them!?
We got to hold an Olympic torch. This is me running across Canada:)
We celebrated Christmas in Whistler with my Mom, Dad, brother Jason, his girlfriend, Lynne, my other brother, Bill, his wife, Marilyn, and kids, Hollie and Trent. It was a full house and lots of fun.

Makenna does not only nap on Grandpa but also with Grandpa:)
Anika showing off her stocking on Christmas Eve wearing her new pajamas that Grandma Earwaker made for her.
I was so glad she picked a smaller stocking because Santa left her bag of stocking stuff in North Vancouver and he had to split the loot from Makenna's bag and supplement with things that Santa Grandma Stanick had thankfully left for them:)
Anika sitting with the milk, cookies and note she left for Santa on Christmas Eve and also holding the special bent carrot she left for the reindeer.

Makenna was not too into opening gifts Christmas morning. Every time we handed a gift to her to open she said, "You open it." Thankfully she was slow opening things as most of her bigger gifts from us were accidentally left at home in North Vancouver! Mom and Santa will need to be more on the ball next year!!
On boxing day some of us went tubing at the tubing park in Whistler. It was a lot of fun but a bit chilly as it was about -7 or so.

We also shopped a little during the holidays:)

After my relatives left, Grandma and Grandpa Stanick visited for a few days. Then our friends, Gary and Shannon with their two boys, Ocean and Skye, came up for New Years.

After we got back from our Christmas holidays in Whistler, I only had a couple days to pack for everyone to go to Mexico!! We went down and visited my parents in Melaque for a few days and then we left the kids with them and went to Ken's work trip just outside of Puerto Vallarta, 3.5 hours north of Melaque. It was a great holiday in so many ways!
We would put the girls to bed in my parents' trailer every night and then go down the street to our hotel. Then we would come back in the morning. We had 4 nights of uninterrupted sleep!!! On top of that, we got to sleep in!!! We have not had that luxury since Anika was born. It was the best gift ever!! My parents also helped with the kids during the day and my Mom organized and cooked dinners in the evenings. By the time we went to Ken's work trip we were so well rested! To top it all off, my parents drove our kids all the way up to Puerto Vallarta airport at the end of our holiday to meet us for our flight home. We cannot thank my parents for all they did for us:)

Ken and Makenna enjoying a cuddle together:)
Anika and Makenna hanging out at the edge of my parents' property watching the world go by. It is a very quiet town and so this is a very relaxing activity and quite common with the locals:)

Makenna enjoying a nap at the beach - under the table at the local beach restaurant. Life is good:)
Jennifer hanging out with the girls in Grandma Earwaker's hammock.
Then....we went to Punta Mita. A totally different vacation:)
The fancy resort Ken and I stayed at with an infinity pool that overlooked the ocean.
As part of Ken's work trip we got to go horse back riding and swim with Sea Lions!
Ken looks bigger than his horse:)

Jennifer enjoying a book in a beach-side cabanna at the resort. I read more during this holiday than I probably read in the past year! It was great!
After we got back from Mexico, we went to Kenzie's birthday party.
Makenna looking like a princess in a tiara she received at Kenzie's party
The next weekend we went to my cousin, Tracy's, baby shower. The girls were excited to go. Makenna was just concerned about getting water in her eyes! :) They didn't realize a baby shower does not involve showering the baby:)
Anika enjoyed holding Liam but actually seemed nervous or concerned about dropping him or something. It was actually hard to get a photo with Anika holding Liam because Makenna was wanting him back on her lap! She was telling everyone for a few days that the baby was on her lap. She was so happy and proud that she held the baby.
Makenna and Anika are playing even more together now. They have their squabbles over toys but they actually play really well together:)

Makenna and Anika playing under the desk.
Vicky and Dave out for a walk with the girls in Lynn Canyon Park. The highlight of the walk was crossing the suspension bridge over a beautiful part of Lynn Canyon.
It is great to be settling back into our routines here. Anika is now in a HipHop-Jazz dance class. She is loving that. She is also in swimming lessons twice a week. She can now glide with her face in the water! It is amazing. Just a few months ago she would not put her face in the water. Now she will jump in the water in the starfish formation and wait until she floats up and then kick for a bit and then stand up for air. It is like she has no fear of the water at all anymore! It is great! Makenna continues to enjoy swimming with me during Anika's lessons:)
Makenna also continues to say more and more everyday!!! People cannot believe she is only 1!! She is so tall and verbal. She will be 2 on March 9th. I cannot believe it! She continues to be a comedian. Her latest joke is to say, "I want to go home," when we are hanging out at home. When I tell her we are home, she laughs and laughs. Then she says it again a few times. She thinks it is so funny. So do we:) She also says, "Knock, knock" we say, "Who's there?" and she says, "Don't cry just me."
Once again it is a super loooooong post. I have to start posting more often so they are not so long and so late.
Anyways, I hope you had a great Christmas holiday and good start to the New Year. I apologize to all my relatives and friends that we normally send Christmas cards to. I did not get them out this year!! I am feeling so badly. Hopefully this makes up for it in some way:)
We will blog again soon.
Love,
Jennifer, Ken, Anika and Makenna:)
